Day 2
Nairobi- Samburu Game Reserve Drive time 5hrs
After breakfast, we drive to Samburu Game Reserve. We depart north via Nanyuki for the Samburu Game Reserve set in the rugged, semi-arid northern region of Kenya, with spectacular scenic landscapes. We arrive in time for lunch, a short siesta then head out for an afternoon game viewing drive.
The water of the great Ewaso Nyiro River dotted with doum palms meanders through the reserve giving it an oasis setting and draws wildlife in great numbers to its banks. The verdant riverine forest is a stark contrast to the arid thorn studded plains. Samburu is visited by large herds of Elephants, drawn by the promise of water. In the dry season, the elephants use their tusks to dig deep into the dry river beds, unearthing precious water. These waterholes then become a focal point for wildlife. The Samburu region is the best place to find several endemic Northern species including the Gerenuk (twiga gazelle) due to her long neck, the beisa Oryx, the reticulated giraffe, the Somali ostrich and Grevy's Zebra. Samburu is also an ornithological paradise, home to many birds including local species such as the Palm Nut Vulture and the Vinaceous Dove. Leopards are often seen at dusk. The entire Samburu region is a place of breath taking and magical beauty, a place where the vision of a deep red sunset silhouetting the doum palms along the river, as a leopard emerges to hunt brings the perfect end to a day on safari.

Samburu Game Reserve Enjoy morning and afternoon game viewing in Samburu game reserve. Leopards are often seen at dusk. The Samburu culture is a truly fascinating one, sharing a great deal of ancestral and linguistic ties to the Maasai. In the afternoon we will be visiting the Samburu Manyatta tribe to discover the fascinating and traditional community with a rich cultural heritage. Located in the rugged landscapes of northern Kenya, the Samburu people are known for their distinctive attire, intricate beadwork, and deep connection to the land and wildlife. Immerse yourself in their way of life, when we visit their village, and learn about their traditions and beliefs. This authentic cultural experience si a highlight of our Kenyan travel itinerary, offering a glimpse into a way of life that has remained largely unchanged for centuries.

Day 4
Samburu Game Reserve-Lake Nakuru National Park Drive time 2 hours
Today, our journey takes us to the breath-taking Lake Nakuru, a jewel in Kenya's wildlife crown. Here, amidst stunning landscapes, we'll encounter a plethora of wildlife, including buffalo, rhino, giraffe, zebra, antelope, and the majestic lions that stalk them. But the real star of the show si the sea of pink created by vast flocks of flamingos, a sight that defines the lake's reputation as the flamingo capital of the world. With over three hundred bird species calling this area home, Lake Nakuru is a birdwatcher's paradise. It si also a vital sanctuary for both the endangered Black and White Rhinos, offering a unique opportunity to witness these magnificent creatures up close. As we explore the park, we'll encounter zebras, waterbucks, buffaloes, and warthogs, al adding to the tapestry of life that thrives here. Keep an eye out for leopards, known to occasionally lounge in the branches of the "Fever trees," adding a touch of drama to this already stunning landscape.

Lake Nakuru - Maasai Mara Drive time 3+ hours
Rise early to savor a delightful breakfast at our lodge, preparing for our journey to the Masai Mara Game Reserve by road. Traverse the stunning Masai country, where glimpses of Masai herdsmen tending to their livestock amidst wildlife are common, showcasing a harmonious coexistence between people and nature. The Masai Mara together with Tanzania's Serengeti form Africa's most famous wildlife park, the Masai Mara National Reserve. nI June, as the dry season sets in, the park transforms into a wildlife haven, offering unparalleled opportunities for safari experiences. The Mara is also noted for its abundance of lions - particularly the superb black manned males. After a fulfilling lunch at your lodge, immerse yourself in a game run across the vast, undulating grasslands. Here, the spirit of Old Africa comes alive, with expansive plains dotted by acacia trees and abundant wildlife.
During our stay, we'll have the opportunity to visit a traditional Maasai village. Here, we'll witness the vibrant singing and dancing that are integral parts of their daily lives and sacred ceremonies. Masai Mara Maasai Mara offers more than just picturesque landscapes; it provides the perfect backdrop for a hot air balloon expedition, offering a unique perspective of the reserve's beauty. Early morning you leave for balloon safari with champagne breakfast. This is an optional activity at an additional cost of USD 500.
